In addition to my motion picture work I also enjoy still photography as a hobby. Below are some personal favorites I wanted to share. They are available in different sizes. Please choose the size that works best (comes closest to filling the full width or height) of your monitor.

Native Sunrise (6/15/2002) - Taken at the
Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute in 2002. The students in the film
program were making a short called The Journey, written and
directed by student Vail Hayes. Actor Taylor Bolding is the young
man in Native American garb greeting the sunrise in this shot. We
climbed the hills around the institute early, while it was still dark, so
we could have the video camera positioned and ready to catch the rising
sun across the water. Of course, I brought along my Nikon Coolpix
digital still camera. In the short he only needed to face the camera
but we asked him to turn and face the rising sun for this still, which
student DP Chase Carver rolled on and it was used as the opening title
shot of the movie. This result is one of my favorite stills.
Photo lower right is the setup, showing (from Left to Right) Actor Taylor
Bolding, director Vail Hayes and DP Chaser Carver.

Location scouting for "The Prophecy II" we visited an abandoned refinery searching for an industrial complex we could literally make look like hell. Although this location was never used in the final film I did some shots there at night, all using existing light and with a very long shutter speed of several seconds. I had not brought a tripod that night so I had to rest the camera on various surfaces. Afterward, I went to some active refineries to get flame and smoke elements. In the end I put several shots of the original refinery together along with the smoke and flames, dirtied them all up and showed them to the producer in hopes of selling this location. It didn't work, we shot elsewhere, but I still thought this made a nice photo. |
I hope to update this page from time to time. Please check back in the future for more shots.
